Lukas Van Loggerenberg ‘Trust your gut’ Chenin Blanc 2020

An exciting new Chenin Blanc from Lukas van Loggerenberg! The name, ‘Trust Your Gut’, refers to the inner belief that comes with experience, but what am I doing trying to explain it when Lukas says it so much better himself: “We all have this inner instinct telling us what to do and sometimes you really just have to trust your gut to tell you what the right move is. I sourced grapes from special vineyards to use in this blend, which I believe is a great example of a wine that is made up of components that come together to provide a wine that is greater than the sum of its individual parts.”

The label depicts various representations of that feeling (a sailor following his compass, a bee finding the hive) and the wine somehow feels made rather than manufactured. It combines the ripeness of sweet kernel fruits with the acidity of Amalfi lemons, those wonderful large yellow varieties that you can eat straight from the tree, as sweet as an orange yet bristling with citric prickle. 13%
